YSK encourages and promotes the access and provision of basic needs and care to Orphans and Vulnerable children within its community partnerships through out its target communities. Given priority is target needs touching food and nutrition, educational support, primary health care, shelter and clothing, psychosocial support and care, and child protection. YSK encourages partnership for the OVC support at the donor-sponsor level and at the community level.

Youth Skills Centre (YSC)

This is an initiative designed to involve out of school youths in vocational skills training and empowerment towards the realization of YSK vision - Responsible and Resourceful Citizens. The Skills centre will have all facilities necessary for training and accommodation and among skills planned for the youth are Dressmaking and Tailoring, Carpentry and Joinery, Masonry and plumbing, Art work among other micro economic related skills to enable the youths earn a living and empower them to support themselves and their families. On the other hand youths in upper primary and secondary schools especially those in the child support Programme will have a chance once schools close to use the Skills Centre for thematic Camping and workshops.

Community Support Programme (CoSP)

YSK endeavors to establish viable and meaningful community support networks and linkages for activities geared towards community empowerment to alleviate poverty, disease and ignorance. The programme involves mobilization of community resources and capacity building on various development issues enhancing the community stakeholders ability to care and support its children and youths . Among developmental issues of interest in this programme are water and agriculture , Best practices in reproductive health and HIV/AIDS, Environmental conservation and renewable energy sources, micro-entrepreneurship activities and so on.
